Devil’s Advocate

For the past year, I’ve been called to examine inauthenticity. Besides being given the opportunity to personally perceive and analyse my own reflections of inauthenticity, I have taken on this character to help highlight an important message, and to assist others to challenge perspectives and belief systems, by helping to bring extremes back into a more balanced state. To play devils advocate is to step into the shadows, to weigh their depth against the light, and to challenge what is taken for truth.

I do this because when someone is stuck at one extreme, a gentle tug won’t move them much. But a strong pull can shift them enough to bring them closer to balance. It’s like how they say, ‘Shoot for the moon, and even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.’ Sometimes, to find the middle, you have to push further than expected. Challenging perspectives this way can shake belief systems, and even if it doesn’t change them, it can at least solidify what you already hold to be true.
